What’s the story behind you and Mind Body Musings?
In 2013, I had just graduated from college and I was immediately searching for a way to build my own career. I started seeking out mentors and people who I could trust to help me pave a road that, as far as I could tell, did not exist yet.
I ended up realizing my disordered eating behaviors were controlling my life and I needed to ‘escape’ from the bodybuilding world I had built and create something new—something nurturing. I ended up moving to Boulder, Colorado where I didn’t know a single person. I built myself a little paradise where I rock climbed, walked barefoot and adopted a dog to nurture.
Only once I had been able to set this specific flavor of grounding was my creativity able to breathe and come forward—not before. So many people try to build something without first looking at their lifestyle, and I think that leads to a lot of frustration and stuckness. It’s like the Universe is saying, “Nu uh, not yet!”
Anyways, the idea of creating my podcast Mind Body Musings came to me when I realized there was a huge gap in the podcast world. There were almost zero solo female podcast hosts in the health category. The hosts were either male, or there were two women together (which is still great!). I knew I wanted to fill that gap. And viola, Mind Body Musings was born.

What has the experience of launching and owning a business been like, for you?
It’s been the most delicious flavor of rocky road ice cream. Every day is different, and every day brings a new feeling about running a business.
Sometimes I doubt this path, other times I’m in love with it. After coaching people for 7 years, it adds up—your emotions begin to feel stretched, like butter over too much bread as Bilbo Baggins says. Self-care has become everything to me. Some days I need to spend the entire day in bed, other days I’m all over NYC running errands. I love having this kind of freedom, but I also need anchors to stay grounded.

What keeps you inspired and gives you bliss?
I am inspired by people mostly. Sometimes you meet a person, or hear them on a podcast, and you instantly feel connected and alive. I adore people who bring something new to the table while also being super down to earth and relatable.
I receive bliss from many things! Creating, writing, podcasting, MY DOG, New York City, my practices, working out, yoga, sharing a funny moment with a stranger, tasty treats and meals out, good movies (lots of movies!) and massages.
.
What do you hope to share with your customers/followers?
My mission is to help humans harmonize their feminine with their masculine, meaning their ‘doing’ with their ‘being,’ as well as their light and their dark. I am crazy about helping people embrace ALL sides of themselves because in this day and age, too many are getting caught up in always being positive and light. Life isn’t like that. Sometimes it’s heavy, dark, dreary and dusty and it’s important to make art out of that too. It’s all sacred.

Do you have a favorite travel or retreat memory? What was it?
I don’t have a single favourite– all of my retreats hold a very special place in my heart and when it comes to travel, every trip is entirely different. I will say that the time I spent four months in Southeast Asia, I came back a changed woman. I had so much more confidence, belief in myself, exposure to other walks of life, and inspiration. Every woman should take a solo trip like that.
